About HRDF Claimable AI Training

HRDF claimable AI training means a course whose fee a registered employer can claim back from HRD Corp, the body that runs the levy fund. There is no special AI category in what we read: an AI course is claimable on the same terms as any other course, if the course, the training provider and the employer meet HRD Corp’s requirements.

This page sets out the rules that affect an AI training booking: who can claim, how much, when to apply, and what a provider’s claim does and does not tell you. It also says what we have and have not checked ourselves.

HRDF or HRD Corp: the same body

HRDF and HRD Corp are the same body: the Human Resources Development Fund was rebranded as HRD Corp (Human Resource Development Corporation) in April 2021, and most people still call the levy and the claim "HRDF".

Source: HRD Corp Annual Report 2022 (https://hrdcorp.gov.my/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/HRDCorp_AnnualReport_2022.pdf). On this site we use "HRDF claimable" in labels because that is the phrase employers search for, and "HRD Corp" for the agency.

Who can claim

Employers registered with HRD Corp and paying the levy can claim. The levy rates we have on record are 1% of monthly wages for employers with 10 or more employees (mandatory) and 0.5% for employers with 5 or more employees who choose to register (optional). These came from HRD Corp pages read on 10 September 2026 for a sister site and were not re-read for this one; confirm your own status with HRD Corp.

Unused levy does not last forever. The rule on record is that unutilised levy is forfeited after 2 years, down to a floor of RM10,000. A training budget that has been sitting unspent is the usual reason an employer looks at AI training at all.

What HRD Corp reimburses: the ceilings

HRD Corp’s Allowable Cost Matrix, January 2026 version (read 25 September 2026 for a sister site), caps the course fee for in-house training at RM10,500 per group per full day and RM6,000 per half day, with at least 2 trainees per group and the fee prorated below 5. For a public class the cap is RM1,750 per participant per day.

These are ceilings on what is reimbursed, not what a provider charges. Source: https://hrdcorp.gov.my/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Jan-2026-Version_Allowable-Cost-Matrix-2025.pdf. The matrix is revised from time to time, so check the current version.

HRDF claim timing: apply before you book the date

HRD Corp’s Claimable Courses page, read 27 October 2026, says: effective 15 June 2026, in-house training programmes can be conducted 14 days after grant approval; the approved programme must commence within 90 calendar days after that period; and training claims must be submitted within 6 months of the completion date. It also says public training can be conducted three days after grant approval, applicable from 15 June to 31 December 2026.

How to check a provider’s claim

On provider websites the claim appears as "every one HRD Corp claimable", "HRD Corp registered training provider", a label beside a course, or nothing at all. These are different. A provider can be registered and a particular course still not be approved for your claim.

Ask the provider for the programme details in writing, then confirm them when you apply. We make no claim that any listed course is claimable, and we have not checked HRD Corp’s own records for any provider.

HRDF Claimable AI Training: frequently asked questions

›Is AI training HRDF claimable?

It can be. There is no separate AI rule in what we read. The course, the provider and the employer each have to meet HRD Corp’s requirements, and HRD Corp approves each application.

›How long before the training do I need to apply?

For in-house training, HRD Corp’s page says the programme can be conducted 14 days after grant approval, so apply well ahead of the date you want. Confirm the current rule on HRD Corp’s page.

›Does this site check HRD Corp approval for the providers it lists?

No. We make no claim about it for any listed course. Confirm approval with the provider and with HRD Corp.

›What happens to the part above the ceiling?

The employer pays it. A quote above the ceiling for the format and group size means the difference comes out of company funds.
